ERNFOLD STARTS YEAR WITH A BANG
Woodbine Oaks contender ERNFOLD won her 3yo debut yesterday at Keeneland, taking a 9 furlong grass allowance by 1 1/2 lengths with an 80 Beyer Figure.
The Stormy Atlantic – Wynyward filly, bred by Jim and Alice Sapara, is owned by Jim and Susan HIll, who watched the filly finish 3rd in the Princess Elizabeth Stakes last year in a super 2yo season under trainer Reade Baker.
Curiously, the filly was taken away from Baker this year and given to Roger Attfield.
Ernfold is one of 2 Canadian-bred fillies for the Oaks for the Hills, who won with Platinum Exchange on Sunday at Woodbine, a Brian Lynch trainee.
ERNFOLD is a $100,000 yearling purchase.
QUEEN’S PLATE HOPEFULS TODAY AT KEENELAND
MOBILIZER and MACALLAN could add their names to a light list of serious Queen’s Plate contenders with a good showing in a 1 3/16 mile maiden race at Keeneland today.
The former was 2nd in his debut a couple of weeks ago for Stronach Stables and trainer Roger Attfield.
The latter is a Chiefswood Farm homebred who broke slowly in his lone main track race last year as a 2yo and is 1st time Lasix for this outing.
Mobilizer is by Motivatror and Macallan is by El Prado.
