SOVEREIGN AWARD MEDIA FINALISTS ANNOUNCED
Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association’s initiative TALKIN HORSES earns nomination in first full season.
A wide variety of media outlets is represented in the nominations for Writing, Broadcast and Photo.
TALKIN HORSES, which had a pilot season in 2014 of 10 episodes and a 21 show season in 2015, covered racing topics, people, horses, races, had race picks and contests in a jam packed, 30 minute program.
It aired on CTV and CTV2 (this is a correction to the press released)
The other 2 nominated broadcasts are:
SO GOD MADE A RACEHORSE – a promotion video based on the poem So God Made a Farmer
and the broadcast of the Canadian Derby by Horse Racing Alberta.

**Everyone Welcome to Purchase Tickets to the 41st Annual Sovereign Awards
You don’t need to be a finalist to attend the 41st Annual Sovereign Awards, Friday, April 8, everyone is invited to purchase tickets and help celebrate the 2015 Champions of Thoroughbred racing in Canada.
The cocktail-attire celebration will include an opportunity to walk the Sovereign Award Red Carpet upon arriving at the champagne reception followed by Woodbine chef inspired buffet dinner and the presentation of the Sovereign Award Trophies to the Media category winners as well as Canada’s racing Champions of 2015 and Canada’s 2015 Horse of the Year.
Tickets are $250 each and tables of 10 are slightly discounted at $2400.

SANDY LANE GOLD CUP SET FOR SATURDAY
Patrick Husbands goes for 5th, record, victory
Woodbine rider PATRICK HUSBANDS will ride the Bernstein colt WATCHYOUROWNBOBBER, a front runner, for Ken and Sarah Ramsay on Saturday in the Sandy Lane Gold Cup and last year’s winner SAYLER’S CREEK and his jock Rico Walcott, who rides in Alberta, is his main competition. Local runner JUST A FASHION and Wesley Ward shipper WAR ENVOY also figure in the 1 1/8 mile turf event:
