SUPER SUNDAY at Woodbine! The prestigious WOODBINE OAKS will be run for the 58th time. It is a 1 1/8 mile race for 3-year-old fillies foaled in Canada. Entries are not drawn until Thursday so much can change but as of now a field of 8 or 9 is likely.
The PLATE TRIAL is also on the card, perhaps with a field of 8 as well. Last year it was the Plate Trial win by River Rush that captured the day as Irish Mission upset the Oaks. The Oaks winner went on to run a huge 2nd in the Plate behind Strait of Dover (who was not in the Trial).
CHANTAL SUTHERLAND is rumoured to be riding at Woodbine Friday through Sunday with possible mount in PLATE TRIAL.
The weather is expected to be very rainy and cool from tomorrow through to Saturday, so the grass racing may be in danger this week.
SATURDAY is also a big day at WOODBINE…enjoy a SPA DAY in the WOODBINE CLUB Ladies and the Belmont Stakes simulcast from Belmont! See you there!

TRIPLE CROWN DROUGHT
by Associated Press
Thirty-five years. Thirty-six by the time the Belmont Stakes rolls around next June and there’s a chance — maybe — of horse racing’s first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed.
It’s the longest dry spell in history.
Everyone who loves the sport has a theory on why a 3-year-old thoroughbred hasn’t been able to sweep the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont.
Changes in breeding. A tougher road to the Derby. Bigger fields in the three races.
And then there’s luck.
