FIRST STAKE WIN FOR DELMAS
Trainer ANALISA DELMAS scored her first win as a trainer – she conditions her father’s FIELDSTONE fARMS runners when GUIPAGO posted a mild upset in the ONTARIO SIRED VICE REGENT STAKES yesterday at Woodbine. The $1,200 YEARLING PURCHASE (!) is by MY WAY ONLY out of CHEROKEE CHICK by CHEROKEE FELLOW.
He is the first stakes winner for MY WAY ONLY WHO STANDS AT NORSE RIDGE fARM In King, Ontario (ALSO HESTE SPORT) is the breeder of GUIPAGO.

The gelding just started racing on the grass only 4 starts ago and he has been in top form. He ran an 83 Beyer Figure yesterday in his win.

IT’S TIME BEAR won his amide yesterday in his 3rd race as a juvenile and the Gardiner Farms’ bred by Peaks and Valleys – Time Allowed has a yearling 1/2 brother in the sale, DAY 2, SATURDAY.
The WOODBINE, CANADIAN THOROUGHBRED HORSE SOCIETY yearling sale figures to be do well with so much money flying around for the locals.
It’s Time Bear (owned by Bear Stables and one of 2 winners on yesterday’s card for trainer READE BAKER) held off a determined Where’s the Ring 2yo called WHERE’S THE FIRE.
The POLYTRACK was sizzling yesterday – how fast was it? EAGLE POISE, owned and bred by Juddmonte Farms, won the Ontario Derby prep in 1:43.88 for 1 1/6 miles (one of the fastest time of the year for thew distanc) and got just an 88 Beyer Figure.
EAGLE POISE is one of litany of EMPIRE MAKER offspring brough to Woodbine by Juddmonte – trainer Bobby Frankel, seemingly for the Polytrack.
Later in the card the farm’s homebred beginner RED HERRING won the finale for maiden allowance gals – she is also by Empire Maker.
EAST END TAP STILL WINNING
and his yearling 1/2 bro sells tomorrow!
At MONMOUTH, Canadian-bred EAST END TAP won an allowance race for his 3rd lifetime score. The Pleasant Tap–East End Lady, by On to Glory) 4yo raced in Canada until this year. He is owned by Ed Lipton and trained by Davd Fawkes. Jim Sabiston is the breeder.
There is a Bowman’s Band yearling in the CTHS sale tomorrow out of East End Lady offered by Richard Hogan, agent.

A FAN’S LETTER TO THE EDITOR
EXCERPT:
Having a number of fillies of my own, my instruction
to the riders is always the same: “Do not hit this filly.”
To me, it does not matter the race or the situation: do
not hit the filly, not even once. It was therefore sad to
have to watch Rachel Alexandra winning the Woodward
last night under almost continual striking in the
final eighth of a mile from her manic (or is it maniac?)
rider. Was it so important to the rider (or indeed her
connections) that she be treated in this way? Mr. Jackson
had always appeared to me (albeit in the media) to
be a decent person, but I have yet to read a word of
regret from him about the treatment his filly received. If
neither he nor the trainer (nor indeed the TDN editorial
staff, I might add) say nothing…

GIRARD, CRAWFORD, BENNETT CLEAN-UP
The combination of Roger Girard (owner) and his trainer Clinton Crawford and jockey Tony Bennett had a lucrative weekend at AJAX DOWNS in Ajax, Ontario. The trio won both major stakes races – the $66,800 Maturity on Saturday and the $98,600 Derby on Sunday.
Saturday, WATCH ME IF YOU CAN, an Illinois bred sorrel gelding zoomed clear late to win the 250 yeard dash by 3 /4 of a length over entrymate DASHERS SIX. In the Derby, FAST FLUNG FLLOYD won by 1/2 a length in the 400 yard dash. He’s an Oklahoma bred 3yo.
