Gosh, it was a super run by the big grey gal ORIGINAL SCRIPT in yesterday’s $250,000 Bison City Stakes at Woodbine, the 2nd leg of the Triple Tiara, but she sure got away with murder.
The Chiefswood Stable homebred, by the red-hot Malibu Moon out of Seanachai by El Prado (Ire) got away with 25, 50 1/5, 1:115 fractions on the pace and when the sprint began off the turn for home, the race was done.
Jockey Jesse Campbell, who is very tough on a pace runner, was gracious in the winner’s circle and had high praise for the filly.
“She has grown up mentally,: said Campbell. “This is a big win for all of us.”
Indeed, it was the biggest win for trainer PAUL ATTARD, who had won about half a dozen stakes races in the last 5 years but none worth $250,000. The Bison City is a well known event, formerly a Fort Erie race, and it carries a lot of history and prestige.
The winning Beyer was 85, the best for Original Script.
Original Script’s dam, SEANACHAI was a winner who was bought for $650,000 as a yearling by Chiefswood in 2002 as a yearling.
The mare has a 2yo by lemon Drop Kid named KID THE POET.

Wild day for longshots! FIGY’S MOBIL PRIDE, a 2yo by Mobil – Tomorrow’s Honey, by Fusaichi Pegasus, owned by Domenic Figliano and bred by Gus Schickedanz, won his debut at 70 to 1. The $5,500 purchase stormed down the track for the upset win over a field that included much hyped colts STAND EM UP (Ralph Biamont barn) and EIGHTY NINE RED (Mike DePaulo). The latter broke badly to the outside from the gate, trailed but finished well and does appear to have some promise.
The winner was the first winner for trainer VITO ARMATA at the meeting after some 26 runners.
Another nice looking 2yo winner was IRON WOLF, a Marcavelly – Iron Feather beginner bred by Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms, who took race 2. Pat Parente trains the 2yo for Winview Farms.
His Beyer was 68.
Trainer CLAUDIA RABSTEIN and owner TIP SAMPLINSKI got their first win of the meeting when BOSS TWEED won race 1 for $9,500 claiming. The homebred is by Bold Executive and he is 3 for 28 in his career.
A fast race on the day was the 3rd race, an allowance for 3yo fillies and it was won by SKY TREASURE, a John oxley filly by Sky Mesa who is 2 for 3 in her career. She ran an 82 Beyer in her win at 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:15 3/5.
Race 4 went to AIR BLADE, who edged Holy Whirl Wind in the 1 1/16 mile maiden allowance. The winner is a 4yo by Ghostzapper who was making his 10th career start for James Redekop but onyl his first at the distance on polytrack.
Race 5 – a maiden allowance on the grass for Ontario sired guys was another win for Chiefswood Stable and trainer Rachel Halden. The 3yo by Niigon was up in time to beat longshot GOODNIGHT HAWK at the end of 7 furlongs.
It was a 2-win day for trainer ROBERT TILLER who watched LEMON SPLASH end a long winless streak and win race 7 from way off the pace. The Lemon Drop Kid 5yo mare is owned by Copper Penny Stables, In the 9th race, Rolph Davis’s lovely homebred filly LAUGHING FALCON is now 2 for 2 with an allowance win on the grass and a 67 Beyer. She is by Aljabr.
The last race wet to favoured TOP MARC IN CLASS, a Marcavelly 3yo who was winning his maiden in his 4th race for owner/breeder Craig Cameron and trainer Gail Cox.
QUEEN’S PLATE FIELD – 11 SET TO GO
Plate 154 is set for next Sunday on a blockbuster card of racing at Woodbine. There will be the big paddock-side party called HATS & HORSESHOES and fun, festivities, food and hopefully your favourite wins!

The traditional pre-Plate Barbecue, presenting the horses to the media, will not be held this year for the first time in decades.
The post position draw/breakfast is still intact, however, there is no guest drawmaster.
The guest for the breakfast will be 2011 Plate winner INGLORIOUS, who will be paraded : she has been retired from racing.
STRAIT OF DOVER, last year’s Plate winner, tried to comeback to the races this year but has since been shelved again.
BIG RED MIKE, the Plate winner in 2010 in front of the Queen, is now learning to be a riding horse, having recently been moved from Regis Farms in King City to Openwood Farms.
