GOTCHA! Pimlico outrider grabs Canadian owned SEEKING THE TITLE as she runs past fans after falling in the Black Eyed Susan. An accident occured when Diva Delite clipped heel. Cindy Pierson Dulay grabbed this shot of Charle’s Fipke’s loose filly and here is Cindy’s recap :
(FROM HORSE-RACES.NET…The #2 horse in the Black-Eyed Susan (G2), Seeking the Title, lost her rider and ran the rest of the way on the OUTSIDE… this was the exact moment the outrider caught her, with both
running (note the kickback), inches in front of the crowded winner’s circle (note the hands
holding a program on the left)! Usually you have people (i.e. photographers, TV cameras,
etc) walking out onto the track right after a race finishes but thankfully none did or this pair
would have run them over…. )
TYLER PIZARRO TALKS ABOUT HOLLINGER
What an opportunity for young TYLER PIZARRO to ride the undefeated 2yo champ HOLLINGER today in the Queen Stakes, the first prep for the gelding on the way to the Queen’s Plate.
The steel grey son of Black Minnaloushe is a monster, plain and simple, and while the others in today’s 7 furlong test will possibly gang up on the sizy guy, he simply may be too good.
For Pizarro, who has ridden only about 25 horses for Attfield in the last couple of season, it is a chance of a lifetime to be on a gelding who at this point, is the clear cut fave for the Plate.

As for the race today – it’s the 6th race on the card. HOLLINGER has post 2 in the 6 horse field.
The speed will come from post 6 with ESSENCE HIT MAN leading the way and perhaps GHOST FLEET and or STORMY LORD tracking. How fast the Hit Man goes (he won the Woodstock off the winter layoff so surely will regress in this longer race) is a question.
With Hollinger making his move around the turn, D’s Wando and Fastin Bear will follow and these three should make up the triactor as they come down to the finish.
D’s Wando is from the first crop of Wando and is trained by Ian Black, as is Stormy Lord. Fastin Bear is not Plate eligble at this time but the Bear Stable’s colt is 3 for 4 in his career right now.

Okay so it will be one of us who will look a tad silly at 6:30 tonight when the Preakeness is run.
I went hog-wild in my picks for the big race today – leaving SUPER SAVER, the Derby winner, right off the top three ticket!

Why would I do that? Well, the SUPER SAVER Derby win seemed to be a lot like Mine that Bird’s score last year – rail hugging, in the mud, while others got smashed around. The tighter turns of the Preakness, a fast dirt track could be the difference for the troubled ones in the Derby to get revenge. LOOKIN AT LUCKY and PADDY O’PRADO both had traffic woes and should be serious factors despite just 2 weeks off.
I went with CARACORTADO, who would have been my pick in the Derby had he been on the list with enough earnings. Instead he has been freshened since the Santa Anita Derby and this lanky chestnut comes of 2 trips where the pace was slow and he had some traffic trouble.
He’s a California-bred by Cat Dreams – yes, he’s obscure from that standpoint, and, well, he’s a bit of a reach to be sure but at 10 to 1 in the odds he’s worth a flyer.

Jockey confident Super Saver will win Triple Crown

Don’t look for jockey Calvin Borel to be riding the rail in the Preakness. He’s so confident in Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver — even boasting the colt will win the Triple Crown — that he’s come up with a new strategy.
Borel expects Saturday’s race to be the opposite of the Derby, where his patented rail-hugging ride guided Super Saver to a 2½-length victory in the slop.
If another horse wants to go to the lead, Borel can position Super Saver just off the pace. If not, he said he and his colt will take it to their 11 rivals after breaking from post No. 8.

STUFF FROM YESTERDAY:
LADIES RACE, LEGENDS FOR THE CURE:
Gwen Jocson wins aboard Honor in Peace. Mary Wagner aboard 15-1 Mass Destruction set all the pace and had the lead to the 3/16 pole before her mount tired to eventually finish fourth. Gwen Jocson aboard 3-1 second choice Honor in Peace came out to pass the pacesetter, and drew off to win by 2 3/4 lengths over Andrea Seefeldt and 7-2 third choice Chapel of Love. Mary Russ Tortora aboard 2-1 favorite Rasher was third.
Not acting – ACTING HAPPY won the accident marred Black Eyed Susan. She’s by Empire Maker.

t WOODBINE, the ECLIPSE PREP was, well, stunning. The race was downright goofy from the get-go. MIKE FOX was a vet scratch. PALLADIO, the old-timer and classy dude, was messed with in the gate and threw a small fit. And everyone took a guizzle hold of their horses out of the gate and the pace went in 26 2/5 and 50.
It was so slow that stretch running POOL PLAY was on the lead.
Meanwhile PALLADIO didn’t seem to be in the mood as he was under the whip on the turn and trailed to the wire in a puzzling out – he seemd okay after the race. ICE BEAR, also a favourite, was cranked up and washy before the race and never got into a rhythm.
And so it was STUNNING STAG (photo above), at 9 to 1 and th elongest shot on the board, who forged to the lead while everyone else was being silly.
A 6yo by Running Stag owned by Janice Attard, the claied runner was making his first strat since October for trainer Sid Attard.
Wow, some training job. The gelding won the Mt Sassafras stakes last year and would seem to be an up and comer.
