Belmont Stakes winning rider Velazquez to ride for Attfield
Trainer ROGER ATTFIELD, going for his 9th and record Queen’s Plate win, has hired one his favourite jockeys, JOHN VELAZQUEZ, for the June 24 Plate, according to DRF”s Bill Tallon.
COLLEEN’S SAILOR, a recent allowance winner, is an unusual colt that races for Tierra del Sienna and was bred by the same, Sienna Farms in Ontario. The farm is the new name for Colleen and Sal Simeone, who won the Woodbine Oaks with Kimchi a few years ago.
The Simeone’s are located in Ocala, Florida.
RAMON DOMINGUEZ will ride Todd Pletcher trainee BIG CREEK, who had been ridden by Emma-Jayne Wilson. Wilson, who had also ridden RIVER RUSH, the Plate Trial winner, is now confirmed on MACHO WHISKEY, who had a big workout here on Sunday morning for trainer Reade Baker.

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Mario Gutierrez and I’ll Have Another did not race in the Belmont Stakes, but that didn’t stop his local fans from setting a record at Hastings Park.
“We had over 14,000 people at the racecourse. It was just magnificent to see,” says Howard Blank, Vice President of the Great Canadian Gaming Corporation. “We had a record crowd…which was wonderful because they came out to support not only racing, but show their admiration and love for Mario Gutierrez.”
