Thank you to readers/commenters who corrected me on ARTIC TUNDRA’S big effort in his debut last weekend – he is indeed trained by Franz Crean!
Check out Thoroughblog’s LISTS on the home page – such as this one that has just been updated:
QUEEN’S PLATE TRAIL CONTINUES SATURDAY
Not Bourbon, Woodcarver, Victor Coley, Regal Intention.
In 25 years, those four used the popular QUEENSTON STAKES at 7 furlongs to strat their trek to Queen’s Plate glory.
5 or 6 guys will try to do the same tomorrow at Woodbine.
The Plate is 2 months down the road and with the loss by UNCAPTURED in the Wando Stakes last weekend and his subsequent bowing out of the Plate picture, the guineas is up for grabs.
THOROUGHBLOG’S top 10 Plate contenders list, up on the site for a couple of months now, has been updated showing the leaders being UP WITH THE BIRDS and PYRITE MOUNTAIN.
The QUEENSTON will be a race to get DYNAMIC SKY back on track perhaps, should he compete. Or, it will be the victorious return of RIVER SEVEN, who beat Uncaptured last year in the Grey stakes and is a serious horse.
The other entrants are Jagger M, an improving maiden winner, Star Contender, who has been off form, Black Hornet and Kitten Candy.

QUEEN’S PLATE NOMINEES LIST –
SUNDAY’S TOTAL ECLIPSE
The stakes fields have been disappointing to this point – the Grade 2 Eclipse has just 5 entrants. But the good news is, the Sunday Woodbine card is 10 races (9 were carded Friday and Saturday) and there are 95 horses entered.
It has been tough for horsepeople to get horses ready for the races this season, some 45 days to get ready for races that are already 6, 7 furlongs. Add to that the fact that there are simply less horses and will be for some time, it makes for a tough day for the Woodbine race office.
The ECLIPSE should be an interesting race, however. Delegation will be odds-on to win again since he took the prep with a 104 Beyer Figure. If he is unchallenged again, he could regress and still win. JAMES STREET has a chance to reel him in and what about Don Cavallo with blinkers back on?
