CANADIAN HORSES AND HUMANS PLAY BIG PARTS IN RAINBOW 6
Are you a homie? If you are, and the home horses come in, you might share in the Rainbow 6 mandatory payout today at Gulfstream Park.
There are lots of you out there who will tout and play the locals no matter what races they are in and today in the Pick 6 sequence, some Canadian-breds or owners, trained horses have strong chances to win.
The PICK 6 starts off with QUEEN’S PLATE CONTENDER SIR DUDLEY DIGGES, who has been getting close to winning his maiden for Ken and Sarah Ramsay for a while.
Named for the famous Virginia “adventurer”, SIR DUDLEY DIGGES was bred by Bernard and Karen McCormack and the dark bay colt by Gio Ponti – My Pal Lana by Kris S has two 2nds and two 3rds in his 5 races.
He was a bit unlucky to not have won his latest when surprised late. Would have liked to see blinkers off, but he is a big player at 8 to 5 in the 1st leg of the Pick 6!
Brian Lynch trainee HORNER MAN is a win factor and Roger Attfield/Charles Fipke Ky-bred Ekati Wildcat is a longshot from the rail.
race 8 – 2nd leg of the Pick 6 – John Mattine trainee, the ONtario bred RED FEVER, by Where’s the Ring, crushed in a 5 furlong turf dash last time. Might be a different horse in turf sprints but this is a very good field.
Race 9 -there is an Ontario bred in the field, Rose’s Dancer, who is in tough in this spot.
race 11 Mini stakes race on the grass has 2 tough faves in LIRA and HARMONIZE but watch out for Ontario bred SHAKE DOWN BABY, bought by American interests after a huge win in her grass debut. The Wando filly must avoid a bounce. Tucci Stables’ FIRST GIRL won her grass debut 17 days ago and is one of the speed runners while PULLED THE GOALIE needs just a bit more to win this for trainer Danny Vella.
Good luck if you play the RAINBOW6!

Pedigree notes for the Tapit colt, LANI – from “Sports Hochi” racing news:
Heavenly Romance is a G1 winning daughter of Sunday Silence. She won the 2005 Emperor’s Cup Fall against a stellar field of older males under Mikio Matsunaga, a feat thatonly the best race mares like Vodka and Air Groove have accomplished. After having her first three foals in Japan, she was sent to the United States by her owner, North Hills, to be bred to America’s best stallions. She has been covered by Smart Strike, Tapit, and Distorted Humor so far.
All three of her American-born foals have been stabled with trainer Mikio Matsunaga. Her first US born was by Japanese stallion Jungle Pocket. The 6-year-old, Awardee has won six of his 28 starts including the G3 Sirius Stakes last fall. Her second US-born and the first US-bred foal, Amour Briller is by Smart Strike and has won seven of her 18 career starts including three NAR cross over group races, two JPN2s and a JPN3. Earlier this year she ran third in the JPN1 Kawasaki Kinen finishing 4 1/4 lengths behind Dubai World Cup bound Hokko Tarumae.

Tough race for POLAR RIVER but she will learn a lot – jostled a bit early by the rough colts, she tracked on the rail, tried to split horses into the straight but had no room, took back and then rallied mildly- “it’s shame, bit gutted for her, she’s still maturing” said trainer Doug Watson
9:33 – As POLAR RIVER gets set to try the boys in the UAE DERBY, it has been said that she will not be going to the Kentucky Oaks..let’s see what she does here first

9:22 the UAE DERBY for 3yos is next and Canadian owned FRANK CONVERSATION is testing the waters here on a 2 race win streak. He won the California Derby and and the El Camino Real Derby on Tapeta at Golden Gate and his maiden win cameon grass. He has come a long way to try dirt for J. Paul Reddam and Doug O’Neill, maybe they forgot Meydan went back to dirt from Tampeta?
