Two of the biggest carryovers for a Pick 6 wager in the last year occur today at Gulfstream and Santa Anita. The latter has a mandatory payout which should lure a great deal of betting action.
Thoroughblog has some note on both Pick 6’s:
GULFSTREAM PARK
Rainbow 6 begins in race 7
7 – Well, they didn’t make this easy as the first leg has 9 first-time starters in a 10 horse field.
The lone fellow with a race, BROTHER AARON, is a must use since he had speed in his debut in November and his workout times have been nifty.
As for including a firster or two, it always helps to check the tote board for betting support. On breeding and workouts, trainer and other factors will consider FINAL SAY (#2), #3 WHERE PARADISE LAY, and the 7 and 8, LUNAR IILUSION and HAUNT
8 -Bottom claimers – GRAN RED has come into form, MR CHAPLIN changes trainers to high % conditioner, OSKAR BLUES returns from long layoff and plunges in class.
9 – FEEDBACK impressed in her career debut and comes off layoff for trainer Chad Brown to try Grade 3 Forward Gal. Working in good clockings. Could be any kind of horse.
10 – Lots of early speed in the Swale Stakes, plenty of nice 3-year-olds too. CALL PAUL is a graded stakes winner from last year. HIGH CRIME and SEISMIC JOLT are interesting speedsters.
11 – The two ‘M”s MAXIMUS MISCHIEF and MIHOS in the Grade 2 Holy Bull.
12- Ouch, more first time starters which makes the Rainbow 6 a very tough play today. SOLDADO from the Todd Pletcher barn and HONEST MISCHIEF from the Chad Brown barn seem most logical.
SANTA ANITA PICK 6
Prospect of a sloppy track, scratches, no turf racing makes this task of laying out a ticket tough until changes are known.
Race 5 – Maidens! OMAHA BEACH is a standout of those who have raced. POLAR is an interesting first time starter.
Race 6 – The Robert Lewis Stakes, Grade 3, is an early Kentucky Derby prep. Leaning to NOLO CONTESTO and MUCHO GUSTO based on possibility of wet track and their speed.
Race 7 – 2, 3 and 5 – Firster CAMZUL based on bullet workout at San Luis Rey, CALDER VALE is experienced and TOBY TIME drops in class.
Race 8 – SCALPER is ok but MY MANDATE should fly over the slop.
Race 9 – The San Pasqual – a big run from MCKINZIE again puts him in the Dubai World Cup. BATTLE of MIDWAY is possible spolier.
race 10 – ISEE IT IN HISEYES and CAYATE have good form.
