Quite a buzz for Moreno
One year after Travers disappointment, long shot wins $1.5 million Whitney at Spa
By Mark Singelais
There was no catching Moreno this time around, and the only talk of a buzzer was a joke by his garrulous Louisiana trainer, Eric Guillot.
Beaten by a nose in last year’s Travers, 10-1 long shot Moreno redeemed himself on Saturday by setting the pace in a 11/4-length victory in the $1.5 million Whitney before a crowd of 36,318 at Saratoga Race Course.
