Sunday morning‘ – Mark Casse sweeps at Woodbine but out of towners disappoint..Wonder Where Stakes wraps up Triple Tiara today at Woodbine

He wasn’t caught and now he is 3 for his 3 in his career as an exciting 2yo and runner of any age for Canada. UNCAPTURED, bred by Caledon’s Bill Graham and owned by John Oxley, made easy work of his overmatched rivals in the Vandal Stakes on Saturday, worth $150,000. The Vandal’s 57th running was off to a bit of a weird start as Weather BIll broke sharply and began to set the pace but the fractions of :23.02, 46.32 were slow and Patrick Husbands, who tried to take the colt back, could not and he went on to press the pace. He finally edged clear to win in 1:10.37 over a game and nice prospect in RIVER SEVEN, also bred by Bill Graham.
Rover Sevem who took an unusual amount of attention by some selectors to actually win the race, still seems like a good prospect as the races get a bit longer.
The time of 1:10 1/5 was good for an 84 Beyer, down from the 94 he earned last time. Will be interesting to see if this half brother to ONtario sired stakes winner dancing Raven can stretch out.
DUCHESS STAKES – More Oxley, Casse, Husbands..SPIRITED MISS won the 7 furlong race for 2yo fillies. The event featured 7 to 5 shot MAN STUFF who was absolutely ripe for the bet-against, but this corner could not come up with the winner – Casa Loma had a nice trip but did not fire.
Instead, the filly lurking beside her off the pace was Spirited Miss, a Sky Mesa homebred who was 2nd in the Mazarine last year. She had won her only race in 2012, an allowance way back in June.
SPIRITED MISS posted an 82 Beyer.
More from Saturday – More off the grass racing, ARE YOU KIDDING ME finally won his maiden but he probably should have last time. He was wiped out in his 2nd career start under Alex Solis but had the master of all – TODD KABEL, on board yesterday and he won big. The 2yo by 1st year sire Runaway and Hide – Sweet Awakening, Street Cry (Ire) s owned by his breeders, a gathering of folks: Ron Kirk, John Bates, Greg McDonald and Riordan and Shones.
BEAR’S TIZZ took a while to win his maiden after being claimed for $40,00 from his debut last year but now he’s a bear. He won his maiden for $50K 2 starts back and was 2nd in an allowance race on July 1 and then won Saturday for owner Janice Attard. Gerry Olguin rode and Sid Attard trains.
Bear’s Tizz was the fastest winner of the day with an 86 Beyer.
Off the grass for this allowance/optional claimer and the surprising winner was Dennis and Christine Windsor’s cool dude WELLOILEDMACHINE. A turf stakes winner last year, he has been a bit slow to get going this year but was a strong 3rd in his latest turf sprint. In this 1 1/8 mile Poly route, he took an early lead and would not let anyone pass. The 4yo by Mobil was ridden by Jim McAleney.
The latest winner for the late BOLD EXECUTIVE is the 2yo filly SEABOA, a grey gal, owned and bred by Ray Noble. Making her 3rd start of her career, the speedster dueled and pressed throughout the 5 furlongs before edging away. Bob Tiller trains and Steve Bahen rode. The dam of the filly is a Two Punch mare, Boama.
SLOPPY AT THE SPA
Wet tracks at the Spa have somewhat messed up what usually is the best racing of the summer so any of these stakes wins by horses have to be taken with a grain of salt.
The JIM DANDY – Grade 2, went to the lone front runner, ALPHA, who went to the lead and that was it. The son of Bernardini, from the family of Canadian champ KAMAR, held his riavls at bay through the stretch after setting a slwo pace.
Curious race by ATIGUN who was under a ‘hammerlock’ as descrived by Tom Durkin, well off the pace and he never had a chance.
Canadian-based PROSPECTIVE, under a 3rd different jockey, was last. The Mark Casse trained colt, winner of the Ohio derby, was in a good position just off the pace but never ran to his superior mud breeding.

Wild race for Casse trainee
More bad luck for trainer MARK CASSE, kind of, as the bizarre whipping of jockey LORIE KEITH on HAMMERS TERROR may have cost the $161,000 race to Casse trainee DELEGATION, who had stumbled at the start and then got nearly wiped out before the finish.
Shocking that the winner was not taken down for the infraction.
Not sure DELEGATION was ever going to beat the TERROR, a stakes winner at Woodbine who bombed just 2 weeks ago in the Toronto Cup, but the tough front runner shied away from, well, the hammering of the left handed whip and he ducked out badly.
Keith was hitting Hammers Terror right handed and then left and as the colt bore out, the left handed whip kept coming.
He is owned by Canadian Terry Hamilton.

WONDER WHERE
At 1 1/4 miles on grass, which has not been used in a couple of days but surely should be in good condition by now, the Wonder Where will be a huge test for Bison City winner BLUE HEART, a daughter of Exchange Rate. The double stakes winner DENE COURT may also find the distance testing and her stablemate BLACK BIRD ROCK is also one who needs to watch her early speed.
Sam-Son Farms’ PART THE SEAS may be sitting in the best spot to win this $250,000 race.
