A super second-half of a 10-race card highlights the first day of racing at Woodbine, 2011, the 53rd season at the Rexdale track.
The DEBUT STAKES is the feature and it attracted a competitive group of 5 furlong dashers including DON’S FOLLY and PASO DOBLE, who were 2nd and 3rd in the race last year. Both horses’ trainers, Ian Black and Mark Casse, were winning races in the winter, Black having won the Pan-American last weekend with Rahy’s Attorney.
*American trainer WESLEY WARD has 6 horses entered, all figure to be heavily bet
* JESSE CAMPBELL is the new kid on the block, as it were. The New Orleans/Kentucky jock, who rides for Al Stall Jr. and others, is set to keep his tack at Woodbine all year. He has 2 mounts on the card, both horses starting from the 1 post.
*JUAN DELGADO is an apprentice from Florida, a leader at Calder, who is riding some of the Wes Ward trainees.
The only other apprentice rider with mounts on the card is RYAN PACHECO.
*JIM MCALENEY is back from injury and has a few mounts, EMMA-JAYNE WILSON, back from injury and wins at Parx Racing and on Rahy’s Attorney in the Pan American!

Canadian-bred BOWMAN’S CAUSEWAY is one of 13 horses to be late nominees to the American Triple Crown. The son of Giant’s Causeway will race in the Florida Derby and he is bred by Adena Springs.

INSIDE ALBERTA RACING AT THE MANE EVENT!!
ADAM LEE reports that his new racing syndicate, INSIDE ALBERTA WILL BE AT THE Mane Event in Red Deer, ALBERTA handing out ownership packages at the end of April. Last year the show attracted over 35 000 horse enthusiasts through the doors.
