Wednesday morning’s press conference with owner Steve Coburn, trainer Art Sherman and son Alan, exercise rider Willie Delgado:
Art Sherman on Wednesday morning training:
He was kind of looking around a lot, he was pretty relaxed and he is very inquisitive horse anyway. He went 2 miles today, visited the paddock.
Tomorrow he will stand in the gate, go to the paddock again.
Willie Delgado :
He’s almost half human, he likes to take it all in.
Steve Coburn, who has known his colt since he was a foal, on the $6 million offer for 51% and controlling interest of the colt, including change in trainer,
“Not just no, hell no. The offer came from someone who has never pulled on a pair of boots to go to work in the morning. It was a slap in the face.”
“We are going to do what we have to do to allow this colt to do what he needs to do.”
On a Derby win. “I think it’s a done deal, that’s my personal feeling.”
“We actually looked at the breeding, not for the present but more of what it could be and we used the past for that 8,000 mare, 2,000 stud fee
his past bloodlines were what we looked at”
