ROBERT ‘SHEL’ EVANS WITH QUEEN’S PLATE CONTENDER?
Dreams of a big win with a homebred 3yo.
Yep, Robert S. Evans, who was interviewed in the latest CANADIAN THOROUGHBRED MAGAZINE (March issue, out soon), has his first homebred, Canadian-bred winner in KID DREAMS, who sparkled in a maiden win at Santa Anita last weekend. He posted a 78 Beyer Figure and quickly jumped on to the list of Queen’s Plate hopefuls. The colt was born at Anderson Farms in St. Thomas, Ontario.
The 3yo is trained by Neil Drysdale and is by Lemon Drop Kid, chart from Thoroughbred Daily News
3rd-SAX, $56,750, Msw, 3yo, 1m, 1:37 3/5, ft.
KID DREAMS (c, 3, Lemon Drop Kid–Dreams, by Silver Hawk), a full-brother to these connections= Dreamy Kid,
GSW, $144,130; and a half to Elysium Fields (El Prado {Ire}), GSP, $154,920, was fifth behind subsequent
GII Robert B. Lewis S. romper Flashback (Tapit) going seven panels at Betfair Hollywood Park Dec. 8. Let go
at 14-1 here while getting first-time Lasix, the homebred broke on the lead, but was reined in by Kevin
Krigger to stalk a pair of dueling leaders. Moving in concert with favored Aleander (Smart Strike)
approaching the straight, Kid Dreams proved clearly best as he kicked home to a 3 1/4-length victory over
the chalk. Pacesetting Wine List (Giant=s Causeway) stayed on for third. Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-0, $34,500.

RAMSAMMY WINS 3 IN TRINIDAD – – rides in Trinidad until Easter Monday
Ramsammy shines once again
By Glen Mohammed
BUFFALO SOLDIER made every step of yesterday’s 1,750-metre opener for horses rated 85-65 a winning one under multiple Canadian-based champion jockey Emile Ramsammy, to start Day six proceedings at Santa Rosa Park.
The four-year-old dark/bay son of Sharp Humor/Quarteria, owned by Merlin Samlalsingh and trained by Derick Mosca, scored by 4 ¾ lengths from Pistons And Rings, Wild Shuffle and Becquerel in a good 1:53.3.
With none of the other runners choosing to make the running, Ramsammy sent the 1/5 favourite to the front from his one-gate draw, dictating the pace tracked by Oasis and Becquerel, with Pistons And Rings and Wild Shuffle completing the field. Onefortheroad did not take part.
Positions up front remained unchanged, but at the back, Pistons And Rings started closing in on the leaders as they headed towards the 1,000-metre pole. Ramsammy quickened the pace a bit, dropping Oasis, but did not allow his mount to move too early, restraining him for any challenge up the homestretch. While none came, he kept the gelding up to his work to score unchallenged in the end.
