KENTUCKY OAKS/DERBY, 8 DAYS!
Hard Not to Like goes for Canada next Friday, Prospective in ‘Roses’
Erin, Ontario’s Garland and Marie Williamson are hopefully headed to the big dance for fillies, the KENTUCKY OAKS, next Friday with their homebred grey miss, HARD NOT TO LIKE.
The Hard Spun – Like a Gem, Tactical Cat filly comes off a strong 2nd in the Grade 1 Ashland Stakes on Polytrack in her season debut. She was a top 2yo filly in Canada last year and ran well in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.
She has never raced on the dirt.

Trained by Gail Cox, Hard Not to Like is out of the Williamson’s homebred mare LIKE A GEM, who earned over $500,000 and was a multiple stakes winner in Canada under trainer Dan Vella.
Like a Gem is out of Its a Ruby, a Rubiano mare.
MEANWHILE, John Oxley’s once-Woodbine based PROSPECTIVE, trained by Mark Casse and to be ridden by Luis Contreras, is featured in the Louisville Courier-Journal today:

Slots program set to end next March, “trasitional funding” means what?, Fort Erie forging ahead
EXCLUSIVE: Fort Erie’s plan to take over race track slots on its way to Queen’s Park – read the proposal here
JOHN ROBBINS/Bullet News
FORT ERIE – A local takeover of the Slots at Fort Erie Race Track would see a newly constituted not-for-profit board to oversee the joint operations of the slots and the Fort Erie Race Track and an integration accounting, compliance, security and maintenance departments.
And in return for a license to operate the slots – including leasing of equipment from Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation – the Fort Erie Live Racing Consortium would pay the province $1 million a year.
Those are some of the main points contained in a formal proposal, which has now been forwarded to the provincial government for consideration.
