DISCREET DANCER, 2 FOR 2, 96 Beyer Speed Figure
big day for stallion Discreet Cat

DISCREET DANCER, a photo from his FACEBOOK page (remember when just writing a newsletter about one of your horses was considering taboo by some? Now horses have their websites and pages!)

OUT OF BOUNDS – SHAM STAKES WINNER- 99 Beyer Figure

“He’s a very big horse, but he’s a gentle giant” – Eoin Harty, trainer

He dwarfed Secret Circle as he lumbered alongside and passed that rival on his way to his win. Yes, OUT OF BOUNDS was definitely in play in the Sham Stakes yesterday at Santa Anita, getting out of a nice, tucked in spot to win the stake with giant, loping strides. He is regally bred for Darley – by Discreet Cat, the young stallion sensation, and out of Breeders Cup Distaff winner Unbridled Elaine.

ALPHA IS BETA

Godolphin had a big day at Aqueduct with wins by its 3yos in the Count Fleet Stakes and Busanda Stakes.
ALPHA won the Count Fleet at 1 mile and 70 yards and is headed along the Derby trail in New York.
This colt is out of Munnaya (Nijisnky II), a daughter of Hiaam who is a daughter of Canadian champ KAMAR.
Once again, the SQUARE ANGEL pedigree line from Canada hits with a big one.
Alpha posted an 85 Beyer Figure.

Race: Maroñas: Gran Premio Jose Pedro Ramirez (Group 1) 1m4f, dirt, 3yo+

URUGUAY’s top stayer Alcazar (Elio Umpierrez/Roni Von Souza) may have sealed a place in the Dubai World Cup with a smashing victory in South America’s prestigious Gran Premio Jose Pedro Ramirez.

The peaking six-year-old Uruguayan-bred son of British Listed stakes winning Aramram, dominated his 13 opponents at the top of the stretch and gallantly galloped home under confident handling from Brazilian Roni Von Souza to score easily by three-and-half-lengths as the 1-2 favourite.

Chilean-bred Cacao, edged stablemate Ares for second, chased home by 2010 Ramirez winner Sing-A-Song, while Derby hero Dopplavu checked-in tenth.

Fifth in last year’s renewal, Alcazar covered the 2,400 metres in 2m30.28 on fast ground to streak to his third consecutive Group stakes victory and 11th win in 19 starts for 2011 leading owner Stud Villa Nueva and prominent breeder Haras Don Alfredo.
