FATAL BULLET is back!
And now he’s probably gone again as the Horse of the Year in Canada is headed on the road in his quest to take the Breeders’ Cup Sprint in the the fall.
With few opportunites here, the handsome bay son of Red Bullet, fresh off a 109 Beyer Figure (career best) in Sunday’s Bold Venture is hadedd to parts unknow.
According to trainer Reade Baker, the gelding may be sent to California for the Bing Crosby at Del Mar or th emore reasonable/interesting plan would be to send the horse to Sartoga and try some good ones on traditional dirt.

DONVER STABLES’ CARELESS JEWEL ran a 104 Beyer Figure in an eyepopping 7 plus length score in the DELAWARE OAKS on the weekend and the Canadian owned and trained gal is heading to Saratoga.
The grey Tapit filly, bred in Kentucky, began her career this spring at Woodbine and has been unbeatable for trainer JOsie Carroll and her rider Rob Landry.

On Sunday, Carroll was back home saddling Smart Surprise for an emphatic four-length score under her regular rider, Patrick Husbands, in the $160,800 Ontario Matron.
“It doesn’t get any better than this,” Carroll said after she had watched both horses record their third straight wins in their respective 1 1/16-mile stakes.
But it might, in fact.
Careless Jewel was making just her fourth career start, her stakes debut, and her first appearance on dirt in the Delaware Oaks.
“We’ll certainly take the Alabama into consideration now,” said Carroll, with reference to the Gradeo1, $600,000 stakes race for 3-year-old fillies that will be run at Saratoga over 1 1/4 miles on Aug. 22.
“She’s just a very good horse.”

CHOCOLATEFORLUNCH UNBEATABLE AT THE FORT
FORT ERIE, July 19 – Chocolateforlunch remains undefeated in 6 lifetime starts at the Border Oval. The five-year-old daughter of Bold Executive scored a one length win over five rivals in Sunday’s Fort Erie Slots Cup.
With Rui Pimintel in the saddle, Chocolateforlunch sat just of the early pace and made a solid run through the stretch to get the victory.
“She’s just a real nice horse,” said Pimintel after the race. “I had to ask her a bit around the turn. I didn’t want the leader to get away.”
Chocolateforlunch, winner of two races here last year, and her last four in 09 covered the six furlong distance in 1:11.2.
Sent to post as the even money favorite the Lyle Morden trained runner paid $4.20, $2.60 and $2.10. Longshot Snow Rite, the early leader, held on for second returning $12.80 and $4.00 and set up a $31.50 exactor. Rosie Regent finished third returning $2.50, the triactor paid $131.80.
The Fort Erie Slots Cup is the first of a series of eight scheduled at Fort Erie this season. Up next is the Don Valliere Memorial Cup, one week from today, Sunday, July 26.

CORRECTION
-Thoroughblog wrote about TOUR OF THE CAT being claimed and retired by rescue groups last week and mentioned RARE FRIENDS. That champion was not claimed and rescued by LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation but instead by owner Mike Ambler and friends.
There are still more wonderful stakes winners and big earners out there racing for low claiming, do the right thing and find a good home for these friends of ours.
