WELCOME TO THE YEAR OF THE HORSE!
The Chinese New Year does not start until later this month but this is the Year of the Horse and so let’s embark on 2014 with a pledge to our horses to keep them safe, help them when they are no longer racing and give them the respect they deserve!

STACIE CLARK PRODUCTION WINS ECLIPSE
HRTV Documentary on Saratoga WarHorse Program Earns Media Eclipse Award
The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA), Daily Racing Form and the National Turf Writers and Broadcasters (NTWAB) today announced that HRTV has won the Media Eclipse Award for Television – Features for its documentary “HRTV Presents: Saratoga WarHorse,” an in-depth look at the work of a foundation taking a leading role in assisting struggling war veterans and their extraordinary relationship therapy with recently retired Thoroughbreds. The 30-minute program, produced by Stacie Clark-Rogers, aired on November 2, 2013.

CANADIANS ELSEWHERE
TAQUITO, now a 3yo, won a maiden allowance his 3rd career race at Tampa Bay Downs on Dec. 29 for PTK LLC. The breeders of this Ontario bred are James, Janeane and Erika Everatt Meeuse. Hs is by Borrego out of Latin Lust by Petionville.
Trainer NICK GONZALEZ did not take long to start off 2014 on a high note as BAR MAGIC had a nice trip and rallied for a win for $20,000 claiming on NEW YEAR’S DAY! Owned by Horse’n Around Racing and Martha Gonzalez, the Kentucky bred 4yo was making his first start at Gulfstream.
DEBMAR STABLES and trainer RICKY GRIFFITH won a $10,000 claiming race at Tampa Bay Downs yesterday with their re-claim KATIE IT’S FINE. She is a Speightstown mare and Scott Spieth rode.
CURT KOBZA’S TRIPLE K STABLE and John Sinnott won an allowance/optional claiming race with LACK OF JUDGEMENT, who was unplaced in his last race at Woodbine. The D’wildcat 4yo won at Tampa Bay Downs at 7 furlongs on dirt and Richard Ciarullo trains.

ARCTIC BEAR, like other horses owned by Bear Stables and/or trained by Reade Baker, has been given to a new home and he is one happy boy Equine Farrier Peter Carr sent the Bakers some photos of ARCTIC BEAR going over jumps his first time. Peter reported that he did everything he was asked to do.
