BIG WEEKEND FOR CANADIAN HORSES LIKE GOLDEN MOKA, BLUE LASER…BIG WIN FOR CAPPUCCITTI AND JONES AT WOODBINE…
HEY! THIS MAY BE CORNY BUT…
JAKE SAYS WATCH SOME COOL RACES ON SATURDAY – THEY MAY MEAN A LOT TO SOME LOCAL HORSES!
EURO TRASHES BARRACKS
well, beats her on the wire
It seems as if JONO JONES rarely rides on a Wednesday night. Last night at Woodbine, the top jockey had a few mounts but none was more important than recent maiden winner EURO PLATINUM who stunned the JAMMED LOVELY STAKES with a rallying score at 40 to 1 for owner/trainer Audre Cappuccitti.
The 3yo beat heavily favoured BARRACKS ROAD, who led late for Eugene Melnyk.
In another super breeding accomplishment by James, Janeane and Arika Everatt (Meeuse), EURO PLATINUM earned a career best 83 Beyer Figure in her win last evening. It took her 10 races to win her maiden but has become a new horse in her last 3 races without blinkers.
The Everatts, wqho own Shannondoe Farm, certainly staked a claim as BREEDER OF THE YEAR. They have bred SAND COVE and MIAMI DECO among other big winners this year.
Cappuccitti, who loves grey horses, bought the grey Euro Platinum (Eurosolver – Miss Prado by El Prado) for about $25,000.
More from last night…
JUST PEACHY – trainer LYNN SIMON won her first Woodbine race of 2010 when PEACH OF A DAY, a gelding by Forest Danger and a half brother to SWEETEST THING, won his maiden for $10,000 claiming. The gelding had the highest last-race Beyer Figure and was dropping from maiden allowance and he made easy work of the field in his first Polytrack run. He is owned and bred by Richard Day’s Kingview Farm.
LUCKY 13?
