Second time starting EXCEED became the first winner for Ontario sire AMI’S HOLIDAY when he won a maiden race July 26 at Woodbine for Colebrook Farms, which stands the stallion. Exceed, a colt bred by Tall Oaks Farm (Ivan Dalos), was a $35,000 Keeneland September yearling in 2019 and he won a frantic finish with another son of the sire, Pink Gelato, a close third.
Exceed is from the fast mare Elusive Collection by Elusive Quality, while Pink Gelato is from a Candy Ride (Arg) mare.
Ami’s Holiday, a son of Harlan’s Holiday, raced for Dalos and was a graded stakes winner while racing from age 2 to 5 for trainer Josie Carroll. He broke his maiden first time out and followed that up with a win in the Grey Stakes (G3) at Woodbine, where most of his success came. He was retired with a 4-1-7 record from 22 starts and $817,773 in earnings.
Ami’s Holiday stood at Colebrook Farms Stallion Station in Ontario for CA$4,000 this year.
