British Columbia’s marquee race, the BRITISH COLUMBIA DERBY (G3), will wrap up the Western Canada Series of three-year-old races on Saturday, with an 8:30 p.m. (EST) post time. First race post time is 5:30 p.m.

The Derby headlines a big, 12-race card that also includes the $75,000 BC Oaks for three-year-old fillies at 1 1/8 miles.

The $125,000 Derby drew 10 entrants, but the filly CHI CHI TIME, one of the best of her division in Canada, will stay with her own kind in the Oaks. She was listed as the 3-to-1 favourite against the boys in the Derby.

Manitoba Derby winner, ATTACK, who was placed first in that race at Assiniboia Downs when favoured Take Charge Tom was disqualified, could rule as Derby favourite. The Kentucky-bred son of Munnings was third in the Canadian Derby (G3) on Aug. 23 at Century Mile behind Take Charge Tom and runner-up Accidental Genius, who got second by a head.

Attack is trained by Craig Smith for Highfield Investments and Smokin Guns Stable.

Lorie Henson’s Rondelito is riding a four-race winning streak  at Hastings– three in stakes – but he missed a date in the Canadian Derby due to a minor foot issue. The son of Lent will be ridden by Kimal Santo. Accidental Genius has been second in three straight races, all stakes, for Stetson Enterprises.

Chi Chi Time is undefeated in four career races for her ownership group that includes Will – A – Way Farm, Gail Jewsbury and Pat Jarvis. Trained by Jarvis, Chi Chi Time, by Finality, has won three stakes and her total winning margin from her starts is over 29 lengths.

Chi Chi Time is 2-to-5 in the morning line odds for the nine-furlong Oaks.

The Derby is race 7, while the Oaks is race 6.
