Gravelly Bay, an improving daughter of Strong Hope, seeks her first stakes win in her first-added money test, Saturday’s $150,000 Ontario Damsel, set for one mile on Woodbine’s E.P. Taylor Turf Course.

Owned by Jim Lawson and trained by Sid Attard, Gravelly Bay, which was the original name of the settlement now known as Port Colborne, Ontario, heads into the Ontario Damsel off a strong third-place finish in a June 8 allowance race on the Toronto oval turf, just one length back of winner Part the Seas.

Jamie Attard, son and assistant trainer to Sid, expected the filly to run better than her 21-1 odds might have suggested.
