Harness Racing BC (HRBC) represents the harness horse industry in the province of British Columbia. Our office is located at Fraser Downs Racetrack & Casino in BC’s beautiful Fraser Valley and we are currently hiring an Executive Director. The Executive Director is the public face of HRBC and is responsible for promoting all harness horse activities. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for sport and a history of leadership success. HRBC Executive Director Job Description
Accountabilities and Tasks:
- Working with HRBC staff and under the direction of the Board of Directors, manage the day-to-day operations of the HRBC Office.
- Lead all Harness Horse Racing and Breeding initiatives and events through to completion.
- Refine all aspects of communications, from web presence to media relations, with the goal of creating a stronger brand.
- Respond to and resolve the questions and concerns of all HRBC members.
- Ensure HRBC is acting in full compliance of all applicable regulations and stay current of all legislation and policies set by BC Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch.
- Assist in the development of annual financial budgets, ensure the accurate and timely production of all financial statements, and analyze budgets and incoming data to identify trends and variances.
- Responsible for ensuring internal committees are fully functional and adhere to HRBC Constitution guidelines.
- Support the Board of Directors in strategic planning and lead the implementation of those plans.
- Forge partnerships with Provincial and Municipal governments as well as other groups relevant to the harness horse industry.
- Lead and support the HRBC staff, perform all HR duties as required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in compliance, project management, strategic planning, and marketing. Advanced knowledge of MS Office.
- A leadership background that includes a history of successful policy and proposal development.
- Ability to make presentations, write proposals, news releases, and marketing materials.
- Proven organizational, networking and time-management skills; must have past experience planning and prioritizing activities in the context of a volunteer-led organization.
- A strong financial background and knowledge of accounting concepts and budgeting.
- Proven ability to foster communication and cooperation among diverse individuals.
- Knowledge of human resources practices, experience leading and motivating staff.
- All potential candidates must be eligible to register with and be licensed by the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch. Registrants are required to submit to a background check, which may include a criminal record check and a credit check.
