Canadian Thoroughbred recently received a comment from trainer Kim Kozak about the lack of coverage of western Canadian and other buyers in a recent post about the Fasig-Tipton October yearling sale.
The sale had over 1,400 yearlings catalogued. The sale news report, which mentioned Alberta’s Keith Johns purchasing a yearling, overlooked a few names. Canadian Thoroughbred regrets the omission.
DON DANARD purchased a Union Rags filly from Weekend Party for $5,000 and through Kozak as agent, purchased a filly from the first crop of Woodward Stakes (G1) winner Preservationist (Arch) from the winning mare Burn Permit who is a daughter of millionaire Mysterious Affair, winner of the Grade 3 Hendrie stakes.
Kozak also noted that trainer KELLY CALLAGHAN was buying horses under KLC Stable including a $20,000 Speightster colt out of Lexington Pearl and a Mendelssohn filly or $12,000.
DEBORAH HOLMES, who breeds horses under her Phoenix Rising Farm name, purchased a Keen Ice colt for $30,000 from the estate of the late Glen Todd.
Ontario trainers Ted Holder and Nathan Squires also purchased horses.
