The Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society – Alberta Division is pleased to announce exciting news for the 2024 Sales Stakes with a 25% bonus to be paid to owners of Alberta-bred racehorses placing win, place or show in the October 5th CTHS Sales Stakes. Owners of Alberta-breds do indeed earn more!

$200,000 in purse money will be offered through the CTHS Alberta Sales Stakes with four races taking place this season – all to be held on Saturday, October 5th at Century Downs Racetrack and Casino in Rocky View County. The two-year-olds and the three- and four-year-olds will each have a Colts & Geldings and a Filly Division; the two-year-olds will be running over a 6 furlong track, while the three- and four-year-olds will compete at a 7 furlong distance.

The CTHS Alberta Sales Stakes are part of the Canadian Sales Stakes Series which, commencing with the 2018 sale year, allows all Canadian-bred yearling graduates of CTHS provincial sales to be eligible to run in sales stakes offered across the country. Yearlings must have met the sales stakes eligibility requirements in the province in which they ran through a CTHS-sanctioned yearling sale. In Alberta, a yearling is eligible for the Sales Stakes Series that passed through the Alberta Division Sale where the full commission was paid to the CTHS and a Sales Stake in-fee and out-fee has been paid.
