The third and final leg of the Canadian Triple Crown, the 136th Breeders’ Stakes worth $500,000, takes place this Sunday, September 27 at Woodbine.
The Breeders’ is a 1 1/2 mile turf race that follows the King’s Plate and Prince of Wales Stakes that began the Triple Crown.
Plate winner Luster bypassed the Prince of Wales on the dirt and is pointing to an American campaign. Prince of Wales winner MILITARY TIME, by Gun Runner, is expected to try the turf for the first time in the Breeders’. Owned by Gary Barber and St. Elisa Stable and trained by Mark Casse, Military Time’s dam Red Cabernet was a stakes winner on the grass.
There are seven other possible starters including Prince of Wales runner-up Brachetto, a son of Vekoma, ‘Wales’ third place finisher Buium and fourth, Keepmypowderdry.
Imyourmedicineman, who had a very troubled run in the Plate and was well back in the Prince of Wales, had a grass workout on the weekend is likely headed to the Breeders’.
Bison City Stakes winner Katie’s Grace, who was second in the 10 furlong Wonder Where Stakes on the grass, is also nominated.

Two impressive Woodbine stakes winners, both Ontario-bred, were recently sold to American interests.
SCORCHING, by Mo Town, recently won the Elgin Yearling Sale Stakes with a 97 Beyer Speed Figure for owners Paul Braverman and Timothy Pinch and trainer John Charalambous. He was subsequently sold to Clint and Mark Cornett’s C2 Racing, who raced White Abarrio.
Algoma Stakes winner BRANDY AND ME, undefeated in two starts, was sold by co-owners Sue Leslie, Susan and Val Kay and Chris O’Dell. The Silent Name (Jpn) filly was also reportedly purchased by C2.
