MARC GUNDERSON‘S fast-growing Twin Oaks Bloodstock bid $575,000 to buy the 2024 Canadian Champion three-year-old Colt DRESDEN ROW from the Fasig-Tipton January Digital Sale, which ended on Jan. 20. Gunderson, who has been on a shopping spree at American sales through the last two years, bought Dresden Row from consignor Jeffrey Bloom, agent, who co-owned the colt by Lord Nelson with Alberta’s Keith Johns.

Gunderson, who signs his sales tickets MWG – LLC, had been in racing and breeding for many years before taking a two-decade hiatus. He recently purchased a 100-acre farm in Lexington, Kentucky.

Dresden Row was purchased as a two-year-old in training for $70,000 (the colt had originally been an $11,000 ‘short’ yearling in 2022 at the Keeneland January sale) and he was bred by TCR Ranch in Kentucky. The colt showed plenty of promise as a two-year-old for trainer Lorne Richards and won the Grade 3 Ontario Derby in 2024 as well as the Grade 3 Durham Cup. In 2025, Dresden Row had some bad luck, but did win in the Autumn Stakes (G3).

From 15 races the colt has won or placed in nine stakes and he is currently on turnout in Kentucky.

There were a few Canadian buyers from the January Fasig-Tipton Digital auction including Zilli Racing Stable, which was listed as buying Ontario-bred Zip to Zap for $42,000. The three-year-old bay gelding by top sire Ghostzapper finished third in his career debut at Fair Grounds in a maiden $30,000 claiming sprint on the dirt. Bred by the Ghostzapper Syndicate and A & A Farms, Zip to Zap is from the Miss Preakness Stakes-winning mare I’m Mom’s Favorite, by Indian Charlie.

Zilli Racing Stable is owned by Rob Marzilli.

Carl Morrison bought the filly Firecracker Fiona, a winner at Woodbine for $10,000, and Dr. Brian Van Arem paid $11,000 for Flying Black, a broodmare prospect by Not This Time.
