Here’s Hannah is going to be a momma.
One of British Columbia’s most accomplished mares is headed to Kentucky to be bred to Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) winner Blame to begin her career as a broodmare.
B.C. Stables’ Pat Bennett and Brenda Combs announced the retirement of their homebred daughter of Numaany – Dreams Start Here by A Fleets Dancer on the BC CTHS website. “Happy retirement to the brilliant Here’s Hannah. She has been an absolute star for over five seasons. She has been so consistent and never let us down when she raced. Thank you to John, Kim, Jesse Morrison and Angie Smith and jockey Richard Hamel.”
Here’s Hannah carried hefty weight on several occasions and won races from six furlongs to 1 1/8 miles, taking 12 stakes scores and a total of 15 wins from 21 races, earning $446,198.
Blessed with natural speed and stamina, Here’s Hannah, trained by John Morrison, won two stakes races as a juvenile in 2017 and was unbeaten in three races. She won the BC Oaks as a sophomore and was named the province’s Horse of the Year, Open and BC-bred and Champion Three-Year-Old Filly.
In 2019, Here’s Hannah had her best season, winning the Grade 3 Ballerina Stakes at 1 1/8 miles with an 83 Beyer Speed Figure. That same year she carried 129 pounds to win the BC Cup Distaff. Her only loss in 2019 was by just a head in the Delta Colleen Stakes when she carried a steadying 130 pounds.
Here’s Hannah was voted Canada’s Champion Older Mare for the 2019 racing season at the Sovereign Awards, held by The Jockey Club of Canada.
In 2020, Here’s Hannah won three of four races and she placed once in three starts in 2021.
