TIM RYCROFT won his fifth straight trainer’s title at Century Mile as that Alberta meeting wrapped up on November 5. Rycroft sent out 62 winners from 334 starters and the earners of $752,588. Rycroft led James Brown who had 32 winners. Among Rycroft’s top runners in 2022 was ASYOUBELIEVE, who won two stakes races and four races in total.

Century Mile’s leading jockey by wins was ENRIQUE GONZALEZ who was taking his second straight title after being a leading rider at Hastings Racecourse in Vancouver. Gonzalez won 71 races over Dane Nelson’s 60 winners. It was the most wins for Gonzalez in a season (he had 72 overall in Canada) in his career.

Crystal Cates and Gonzalo Anderson led all owners with 16 wins from 56 starters and purses of $181,671. Cates, who has been the manager of Roversedge Racing, and Anderson are in their second year of their ownership group. Cates and Anderson, barn foreman for trainer Tim Rycroft, raced multiple stakes-winning 2-year-old Cuban Cobra, a Florida-bred son of Flat Out who won the Canadian Juvenile Stakes and traveled east to Assiniboia Downs to win the Winnipeg Futurity.

Chris and Heather Duggan were second on the owner list by earnings with eight wins and purses of $177,014.

The leading horses at the meeting by wins were DANCE SHOES and BON PRIX with five wins each. Dance Shoes, owned by Mohamed Khan and trained by James Brown, won four stakes races plus had an early win at Turf Paradise before she arrived at Century Mile in the spring. Bon Prix, owned and trained by James Wyness, won claiming races throughout the season.
