Dave Clancy’s Track West Racing and Don Whalen sold a Life Is Good colt for $225,000 this week at the Keeneland September Yearling sale, one of numerous Ontario-breds to go through the ring.
The colt, bought by RTM Racing, is from a mare that Clancy bought for $45,000 carrying the Life Is Good yearling.
Cumulative through-the-ring sales this year at Keeneland are $525,899,500 for 2,338 yearlings for an average of $224,936 and a median of $125,000. Compared to the first 10 sessions of the auction last year, the gross is up 5.14% from $500,189,500, while the average increased 6.67% from $210,872 and the median is 4.17% higher than $120,000.
Seventy yearlings have sold for $1 million or more, compared to 56 last year.

CJ Thoroughbreds, which raced 2025 Breeders’ Stakes winner TOM’S MAGIC, bought another Ontario-bred, this time a Complexity filly out of Sister Nova, the dam of stakes winner Notorious Gangster. The price was $200,000. The filly was consigned by Woods Edge Farm, agent and bred by Mark Dodson.
Al and Bill Ulwelling purchased a filly by Maclean’s Music from Collecting Flatter for $140,000 from the consignment of Hill ‘n’ Dale at Xalapa, agent.
Colin Davis’ Apricot Valley Thoroughbreds sold an Army Mule filly through Warrendale Sales for $180,000 to X-Men Racing. The filly is from the mare Closet Shopper.
A Life Is Good – Naples Mist colt brought $225,000 from RTM Racing LLC. The colt was consigned by Eaton Sales, agent for breeders Track West (Dave Clancy) and Don Whalen.
Ontario owner JOHN RUSSELL paid $150,000 for an Ontario-bred colt by Mandaloun – Scat Girl, consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent CXLIX for Robert Marzilli.
STUART SIMON, an owner and trainer from Woodbine, bought an Ontario-bred filly by Charlatan – Serapha from Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales at Xalapa for $75,000.
Ontario trainer DALE DESRUISSEAUX as agent bought an Upstart colt from Candy Bay for owner Dominic DiLalla for $40,000 from Elm Tree Farm, LLC.
Woods Edge, agent sold an Oscar Performance filly from Henley Hill (GB) for $160,000 for breeder Mark Dodson. Amerman Racing was the buyer.
Susan Foreman, agent sold a Golden Pal colt from Jesters Jazz for $100,000.
Mark Dodson, through agent Ben McElroy, purchased an Ontario-bred from breeder Langcrest Farm, a Charlatan colt named Tapcrest out of the mare Love’s Illusion. The consignor was Castle Park Farm, LLC.
